Tracking on Unsupported Phones

We use standard Java MIDP 2.0 APIs in our software, so in theory almost every GPS-enabled phone running Java should work.

Step 1

Create a free InstaMapper account. Registration should only take a minute or two. After activating your account, log in and click on "add a tracking device".

Choose a name for your phone and select preferred units. Click "Add". Write down the 13-digit device key assigned to your phone.

Step 2

Install the "GPS Tracker" application by downloading it OTA:

http://www.instamapper.com/download/GPSTracker.jad

Start the application (look for an icon that looks like a satellite) and enter the 13-digit device key from step 1. Other settings may be left at default values. Save.

Step 3

Log in to your account to see the location of your phone plotted on a map.

Notes

  • Make sure you have an unlimited data plan. GPS tracking is fairly data-intensive.
  • If you find an unsupported phone that works well, please let us know.
