BlackBerry Tracking HOWTO
Step 1
Create a free InstaMapper account. Registration should only take a minute or two. After activating your account, log in and click on "add a tracking device".Choose a name for your phone and select preferred units. Click "Add". Write down the 13-digit device key assigned to your phone.
Step 2
Install the "GPS Tracker" application by downloading it OTA:http://www.instamapper.com/download/GPSTrackerBB.jad
Start the application (look for an icon that looks like a satellite) and enter the 13-digit device key from step 1. Other settings may be left at default values. Press the "Menu" key to save settings.
Step 3
Log in to your account to see the location of your phone plotted on a map.Notes
- Press the red hangup key to run GPS Tracker in the background.
- Press the "Escape" key to quit tracking.
- Make sure you have an unlimited data plan. GPS tracking can be fairly data-intensive.
Troubleshooting
- If GPS Tracker is unable to determine your location, make sure that 1) your phone has built-in GPS or is connected to an external receiver, 2) your OS version is 4.2.1 or higher, and 3) you have a clear view of the sky. Additionally, note that some carriers disable GPS functionality in their phones. Verizon phones will most likely NOT work for this reason.
